Managing Editor

The Managing Editor for Education Labs is responsible for creating, planning, and managing all editorial content for our portfolio. This includes longform editorial, blog posts, rankings guides, academic resources, and site copy.

The Managing Editor will also work with the executive team to develop the strategies and processes used across our products, as well as manage and support our talent in the execution of these plans. You will be responsible for building and managing the Editorial Team by recruiting and onboarding new copywriting and editorial talent both in-house and freelance for the Education Labs brand.

Tasks & Responsibilities
-Editorial Strategy & Development
-Coordinate with executive team to ensure our Education Labs strategy, execution and results align with broader company goals
-Manage the timely development of all content for the editorial calendar
-Monitor KPIs to make sure we're achieving our goals
-Coordinate with other teams to ensure interdepartmental tasks (sales, content, design, dev, etc.) are completed effectively and efficiently

Copywriting & Editing
-Ensure all copy is aligned with Education Labs brand
-In addition to all content related to the Education Labs editorial calendar, handle miscellaneous copywriting tasks needed by Education Labs (e.g. landing pages, site copy, etc.)

Education & Experience
-Must have experience managing and editing a team of in-house and freelance copywriters
-Must have experience executing content strategy resulting in large-scale traffic/backlink acquisition: The ideal candidate will understand how to engineer content to receive backlinks and social shares. You have led marketing projects that grew traffic and backlink acquisition significantly
-Must have experience developing new products at an aggressive rate: Ideal candidate will have led content strategy for multiple new successful products. You have a diverse background of wins under your belt
-Must have a portfolio that demonstrates strong abilities, standout creative thinking, and exceptional writing skills
-Must have excellent writing and editing skills
-Must have high attention to quality, accuracy and thoroughness
-Must have experience creating and executing an editorial calendar
-Preferred: Experience managing an editorial department with high volume (20K+ words/week)
-Preferred: Previous experience as a subject matter expert, proven ability to quickly adapt and learn to write about new topics
-Preferred: Previous experience in a strategist role, proven ability to ideate and execute content achieving high amounts of backlinks, social shares, and traffic
